ASSESSMENT OF SCHOOL MANAGEMENT TEAM AND TEACHERS’ JOB PERFORMANCE AMONG PUBLIC SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN NORTH CENTRAL OFREGION OF NIGERIA
Abstract
The objective of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of school management teams and teachersin public secondary schools situated in the North Central region of Nigeria. The critical elements for achieving educational excellence and favorable student outcomes are effective school management and the provision of high-quality teaching. Nevertheless, there has been a scarcity of research conducted within this particular geographical context. The study utilized a mixed-methods methodology, incorporating both quantitative survey data and qualitative interviews and observations. The study sample comprised of a heterogeneous group of school administrators and teachers selectedfrom various public secondary schools located in the North Central region of Nigeria. Structured questionnaires were utilized to collect quantitative data from school administrators and teachers. The study employed descriptive and inferential statistical analyses to investigate the associations between school management practices and teachers' job performance. The outcomes of this research will enhance comprehension regarding the strengths and weaknesses pertaining to school management and teacher performance within the North Central region of Nigeria. The findings of this study will provide valuable insights for policymakers, school administrators, and education stakeholders regarding potential areas for improvement in school management practices and the necessary supportrequired enhancing teachers' job performance. The objective of this study is to promote evidence-based decision-making and the adoption of effective strategies for enhancing school improvement within theregion.
