Abstract

The use of digital technologies in human kinetics and health education to support learning in schools has grown and will continue to evolve. Educational technology thus involves all electronic devices which could improve all aspects of education in schools and by implication in human kinetics and health education. The purpose of this paper is to highlight on the application of digital technologies to bridge educational gaps in human kinetics and health education. Reviewed literature showed some gaps which affected the human kinetics and health education in schools to include; teachers and students’ factors, curriculum factor, evaluation system and job related challenges. Digital educational technologies could help facilitates learning, assessment, physical activities, teachers’ support, communication and education of students and also in encouraging teamwork among students inside and outside the class. These implies that the above gaps could be bridge with the adoption of digital technology in human kinetics and health education. Digital tools that can aid human kinetics and health education training in institutions include but not limited to Interactive Whiteboard, fitness trackers, videos, Google Classroom and CapCut. The use of digital educational technologies is strongly encouraged. It is recommended that institution should invest more in staff training to enhance the adoption of these technologies in classrooms. In conclusion, digital educational technologies can help bridge gaps in infrastructure, manpower shortage, accessibility problem, personalized learning, simulations, provision of prompt feedback and research work in human kinetics and health education.
