ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AND THE PRACTICE OF ARCHITECTURE IN AKWA IBOM STATE, NIGERIA
Abstract
This study assessed the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the practice of architecture in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. The study adopted a descriptive survey design and was conducted in Akwa Ibom State. Using Bartlett et al (2001) table, the following sample size was selected using stratified random sampling technique: 25 fellows, 100 full members, 30 associates’ members, 108 graduates’ members, 200 students’ members, as well as 50 technologists. The instrument titled “Artificial Intelligence and the practice of Architecture in Akwa Ibom State Questionnaire (AIPAAKSQ) was used, with a reliability index of 0.96. The data obtained were analysed in line with the research questions. The findings indicated that the student’s membership had the highest membership strength with 56.49%, while the fellows had the least with 2.82%. The total number of Architects that uses CAD represented 91.8 %, while BIM represented 26.51%. One of the recommendations was that timely seminars, workshops and trainings be organized for members of the Architecture profession on the relevance of CAD and REVIT. Also, subsidized CAD and other Autodesk software by the professional associations be made for its members
