FACTORS ASSOCIATED WITH THE TEACHERS’ WORK ENGAGEMENT AMONG PUBLIC ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS IN SAMAR ISLAND
Abstract
This study examined the factors shaping teachers' work engagement in public elementary schools across Samar Island, Philippines. Data from surveys were collected to explore the influence of job satisfaction, emotional intelligence, and professional identity on teacher engagement. Findings indicated exceptionally high levels of job satisfaction among teachers, stemming from positive perceptions of organizational leadership, support, and a conducive work environment. Similarly, teachers exhibited high emotional intelligence, enhancing their communication and problem-solving skills. Furthermore, teachers demonstrated a strong professional identity, aligned with personal values that contributed actively to the profession's advancement. High levels of vigor, dedication, and absorption underscored their engagement and commitment to their roles. Correlation analysis revealed significant relationships between these factors and work engagement, highlighting the importance of addressing multiple factors for enhanced teachers' satisfaction and effectiveness.
